Welcome to Taisty Bytes!

And thank you for stopping by!

In the quiet nooks of my kitchen, flanked by the pitter patter of my dog’s feet on the tiles and the tick of an oven winding down, there's a sense of new beginnings brewing alongside my trusty coffee pot…

Hello. I’m Mark, a small business owner, illustrator, designer and photographer. I’m also a complete novice in the kitchen! I live in the picturesque Devonshire countryside in the South West of England, so I’m surrounded by some fantastic places to source ingredients from or perhaps even grow my own.

Taisty Bytes is more than just a newsletter about cooking and baking. It’s about the stories that unfold in the kitchen, the unexpected lessons learned while waiting for the oven timer to ding, and the joy of sharing a homemade meal. Whether it’s the triumph of a perfectly risen loaf or the disaster of a burnt cake, I’ll be here, sharing it all.

This newsletter will also be a reflection of my learning process, assisted by my dog Hiro and the marvel that is AI - or as we’ve affectionately named her, Dawn. (In homage to the wonderful Dawn French, of course). From choosing the right flour to mastering the art of seasoning, Dawn and I will be delving into the art and science of cooking and baking, making this journey as much about learning as it is about eating.

I thoroughly encourage you to be an active part of this community too. Feel free to comment, ask questions, suggest recipes, and share your own culinary adventures. Taisty Bytes is not just about my journey; it’s about all of us growing and learning together.

What can you expect? A generous serving of enthusiasm, a dash of humour, and hopefully some great food photography. I’ll be posting regularly, here and on the Taisty Bytes instagram account. Sharing not just recipes but also the inspirations, successes, and mishaps along the way. I might even take you through the process of learning a new technique, live, in real time - from the initial attempts to the final, hopefully successful, outcome.

So, whether you’re a seasoned chef or someone who can barely boil water like myself, I invite you to subscribe and join me on this taisty journey. Let’s see where it takes us.

More soon,
Mark
